Examinations

At St Helens Alternative Provision Service we are committed to support our students through the examinations process, so that they can gain the qualifications they need to support positive onward destinations.

Our exam page is designed to give you access to important documents for students accessing qualifications, including documents produced by JCQ which all students sitting examinations must read and understand.

Should you have any queries relating to Examinations please contact our Exams Officer Nicola Smith for further support and guidance (APS.Exams@sthelens.org.uk).

Examination Timetables

Students who are access GCSE examinations will be issues with an individual timetable relevant to the subjects they are completing. Timetables will be given to students in the spring terms to allow plenty of time for preparation.

Contingency Days

This is timetabled for the afternoon of the 24 June 2026. The designation of a ‘contingency day’ within the common examination timetable is in the event of national or significant local disruption to examinations in the United Kingdom. It is part of the awarding bodies’ standard contingency planning for examinations. Centres must therefore remind candidates that they must remain available until Wednesday 24 June 2026, should an awarding body need to invoke its contingency plan.
